THE MOTHA KIKI BALL WORKSHOPS

Presented by BlackOut Collective and Van Vogue Jam

The MOTHA KIKI BALL WORKSHOP SERIES is an opportunity to meet and learn from Ballroom talent brought to the city. We offer these workshops to members of the Ballroom community to support our local scene.

12:30 - 2 PM Keeping Your Runway: A How to Guide w/ Notorious Telfar

How to have a successful function and keep the energy moving.

2 - 3:30 PM Sex Appeal/Siren with Legendary Canadian Godmother Juju Louboutin

This workshop focuses on the physical language of selling sex appeal and seduction. We will break down specific techniques used sex siren and sex appeal performance to create an alluring and confident presence. Learn to master:

  • Intentional Walk & Stride: Transforming your basic walk into a mesmerizing, confident entrance.

  • Body Isolations: Fluid, controlled movements that draw the eye.

  • Floor Work & Transitions: Simple, sensual ways to move between levels and use your environment.

  • Eye Contact & Facial Expressions: The non-verbal cues that build instant chemistry and magnetism.

  • Breathing: using your breath to convey desire and pace. 

  • Battles: learn how to stand out during a battle and create your own spotlight

Dress code: Comfortable clothing or something that makes you feel sexy, knee pads (for floor work if needed), heels for all FF. 

Demographics: All level walkers welcomed. Women’s, BQ, FQ, Transmen, GNC

BIO - Legendary Canadian Godmother Juju Louboutin is a radiant force in the ballroom community and a proud ambassador of culture, confidence, and community empowerment. Juju began her ballroom journey in 2019 walking Face as a Pinklady, quickly earning recognition for her poise, beauty, and signature presence. In 2022, she evolved into a new era, stepping into Sex Siren as a 007, where her seduction, athleticism, and star power ignited her rise as a standout talent. In 2024, she joined The Legendary Luxurious House of Louboutin, where she proudly serves as a leader, mentor, and cultural torchbearer. Today, Juju channels her passion into workshops, community engagement, and DJing, using her platform to uplift emerging talent, celebrate queer artistry, and build safe, joyful spaces for self-expression. 

3:30-5 PM Runway with Iconic Founding Mother Twiggy Pucci

BIO - A director, producer, organizer, and healer, Twiggy Pucci Garçon has collaborated with artists, filmmakers, academics, and policymakers to increase visibility of both creative and sociopolitical agendas. Twiggy has also worked as a runway trainer and choreographer, performance artist, and special events producer, collaborating with Gucci, Coach, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, GLAAD, PS1 MOMA, Reebok, and more. She is the International Mother for the Legendary House of Comme des Garçon, the Chief Ambassador for the Center for Black Equity, and Co-Founder of All Tea, No Shade Productions alongside NYT bestselling author George M. Johnson. Together, they are nominated for a Daytime Emmy for their “All Boys Aren’t Blue” daytime special. Twiggy was a participant in the feature-documentary “The Out List”(HBO, 2013), and is the co-writer and one of seven participants in the award-winning documentary “Kiki” (Sundance, 2016). Twiggy serves on the Board of Directors for Doc Society and worked as a consultant and choreographer on Ryan Murphy’s Emmy award-winning series, “Pose” and as a consultant on CBS hit series, the Equalizer. Her short documentary film “MmM” had its world premiere at the 2023 Copenhagen International Film Festival, CPH: DOX, screened at Frameline47, and won best short at the 2023 Provincetown International Film Festival and the Shine Award at the 2023 Blackstar Film Festival. She is a 2024 Concordia Fellow and currently in production on her documentary feature film, CROWNED

5 PM - 6:30 PM Vogue Femme w/ NYC Mother Omi Unbothered Cartier

Ever wanted to know what it’s like to be in the Mecca and work with the Mother of the year? Well, now is your chance! Come expand your movement vocabulary and deepen your voguing essence with Omi Unbothered Cartier as she takes us through a process based training to not only make you undebatable but affirm YOUR undeniable!

BIO - Undoubtedly one of New York City’s finest, N’yomi Allure Stewart aka “Omi Unbothered Balenciaga,” is a rising star on and off the floor. Stamping herself as a ballroom talent to watch, Omi started her journey in the House of Juicy Couture where she was Princess before starting her own ballroom bloodline as Mother Unbothered Cartier (2024 Mother of the Year). Transcending a legacy, Omi as the returning Mother of Unbothered Cartier has spearheaded chapters internationally and regionally in the states, undeniably marking her imprint in the Kiki scene. 

Off the floor, N’yomi is a recognized Actress (NYT, Vogue), Playwright, and Director. She’s currently working on the Broadway production of “CATS: The Jellicle Ball” and was recently named an “extraordinary actress” (New York Times) for her work in “Prince F*ggot” at Studio Seaview. 

6 - 9 PM Black Folks Happy Hour  @ 1033 Davie St

Snacks and non alcoholic drinks will be provided. Free, but registration is encouraged.
